Sounds Of The Zoo Presents: July’s Summer Artist Showcase! The first Artist Showcase of the summer (July 16, 1-3PM at the Clover Room) features young talent from across the Kalamazoo area. From traditional beatnik music, to stripped-down psychedelic rock, this showcase is jam packed with some of the most creative young artists in the area. The roster for this showcase is as follows: MoonGhost (1-1:20) Luke Feister’s Hot Keisters (1:30-1:50) False Atlas (2-2:30) Flower God (2:35-3:10) Below are the professional bios of each individual band.

Moonghost MoonGhost is an upcoming rock/metal band from Kalamazoo Michigan. Having just formed in early 2023, they are currently writing songs and beginning to perform live. They take influence from many genres such as thrash metal, psychedelic rock, and progressive rock. Some artists that influence them include Tool, Rush, Phish, Metallica, Megadeth, Jimi Hendrix, Porcupine Tree and Umphrey's McGee. Their members are Ellis Edwards on Guitar, Luke Feister on Guitar, CJ Wesner on Bass and Hayden Lee on Drums.

Luke Feister’s Hot Keisters Luke Feister’s hot Keisters is a tribute to the 1970s band, Dan hicks and his hot licks. We play music in the genre and style of Beatnik. The word Beatnik refers to a movement of artists in the 1950s and early 60s that rejected the boundaries of conventional society. Hicks’ (and Feister’s) interpretation of Beatnik in his music was a contemporary style of folk music, similar to bluegrass, with elements of counterculture and rock and roll. The Hot Keisters are made up of David Diame on viola, Payton Carter and Annabelle Fuerst on vocals , Lukas Price on drums and Luke Feister on guitar and vocals.

False Atlas Established in March of 2022, False Atlas began in Kalamazoo, Michigan stemming from a local band program that brought rock musicians together. The group has had the opportunity to play at various local venues such as Final Gravity Brewing Company, Celery Flats, Presidential Brewing Company, Kalamazoo State Theatre, Kalamazoo Ribfest, Beats on Bates, and many more. Deriving musical inspiration from bands such as Tool, Deftones, Chevelle, Shinedown, Seether, and Breaking Benjamin, False Atlas strives to bring energy and movement to their audience and share their love of music with fans. False Atlas consists of Dalton Deleon on guitar and vocals, RJ Baker on guitar, Drew Allen on bass, and Mark Warden on drums.

Flower God Established in July of 2022, Flower God is an alternative/indie rock band from Kalamazoo, Michigan. The band prides themselves on their diversity and variation within their eclectic musical style, stemming from their influences: bands such as Pixies, The Jam, Radiohead, Elvis Costello and The Attractions, and of course The Beatles. Capable of playing high energy punk venues as well as soft acoustic spaces, Flower God has proven their ability to be a perfect band for any venue and style possible. Flower God consists of Jack Chapman on guitar and vocals, Liam Comrie on guitar and vocals, Will Gavan on guitar, bass, and vocals, and Will Murphy on drums.
